March was a great month for TXP2 development...! Smile
Let's start with some converted items from DF1 and AF3 which now have been fixed or made solid during March...:

Items made solid or fixed

The LRSV from Delta Force 2 - rear part made solid by Tomkat...:

The LCAC from Delta Force 2 - front part made solid, by Tomkat...:

The TRAILERG from Delta Force 1 - made solid, by Tomkat...:

The WOODHANG from Delta Force 1 - made solid, by BulletMagnet...:

The BRICK1 and BRICK2 from Delta Force 1 - made solid, by Tomkat...:

The BRICK3 and BRICK4 from Delta Force 1 - made solid, by Tomkat...:

The GSP14 from Armored Fist 3 - made solid, by BulletMagnet...:

Tomkat has also fixed the collision volumes of the SDOME item (no more invisible solid walls), but it's hard to show this with a screen shot... Wink

Advanced/experimental modding

The TXP Team has lately started to explore the possibilities of editing the exe file itself, in order to fix stuff or add new stuff to the game. We're only at the beginning stages yet, but already this approach has brought some results...:

A) Tomkat has combined his transparency knowledge with some sound experiments and created a burning flag animation w/sound. This opens up some possibilities for adding custom sounds in DF2...: Smile

Here's the video showing the burning flag w/sound...: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYs8afMzC0o

B) Tomkat has also figured out how the exe file can be edited to make it possible in CTF to change the default flagreturntime value of 210 (seconds) in the Df2.cfg file so that new values will work...!

Figuring out the 3DI format

For many years we have been re-engineering the file format of the DF2 3di files, and lately we have intensified the work, trying to figure out the last few parts of the file format, so that we eventually would be able to create tools for adding completely new items to DF2.

I have previously figured out how to convert items from DF1, AF3 and LW/TDF to DF2, at least partly, but we've never figured out how to add non-Novalogic items to DF2..., until now... Smile

Tomkat has now managed to do exactly that...! The method is still far from simple and involves a lot of manual work, but it works...! Smile

Here's the first non-Novalogic item ever imported to DF2, by Tomkat - the DONUT...:

In the Development Diary for April we will show more new items for DF2... Smile
